Jewish Man Killed in Florida Car Crash With Tractor Trailer

A 26-year old Jewish man was killed in a car crash in Florida early this morning.

Police identified the driver of the car as Tzvi Yeheskel Ference, from Miami Beach, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin were notified, according to a police report from the Florida Highway Patrol. Results from a test for alcohol were pending.

The accident reportedly took place in Broward County at around 12:30 a.m, when Ference’s 2009 Hyundai Accent slammed into an eighteen-wheeler and flipped upside down. Ference had been heading northbound in the southbound lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck’s two passengers — Yadian Palomino-Leyva and Leany Cervantes-Rodriguez, both from Miami — were unharmed.

Police said that Ference’s car struck the right side of the tractor trailer, which caused the car to overturn and rest on its roof.

The southbound lanes of the turnpike were closed for the investigation and re-opened at 6:00 a.m., according to the state police. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
